D DesmoPilot macrumors 65816 Original poster May 2, 2010 #1 Just wondering what brand/model the 5400RPM drive that apple's using these days.
R Ralzy macrumors member May 2, 2010 #2 13'' had a hitachi and the 15'' had a seagate. I had the two base models.
alust2013 macrumors 601 May 2, 2010 #4 I believe it is a Hitachi, probably the basic model, although for some reason mine has a Fujitsu drive that came with it. EDIT: Ha, it appears that there really isn't a whole lot of consistency

N neteng101 macrumors 65816 May 2, 2010 #11 Looking around the Apple store I noticed all the drives coming up at SATA 1.5 not 3.0 speeds.

D DesmoPilot macrumors 65816 Original poster May 2, 2010 #19 Thanks for the replies; debating what HD to replace the stock 5400 with (already have a enclosure coming to slap the stock HD in). Right now I'm leaning towards the WD Scorpio Blue 5400/500GB or the WD Scorpio Black 7200/320GB.

T tekmoe macrumors 68000 May 2, 2010 #21 I upgraded to a Hitachi Travelstar 320gb 7200rpm drive. I converted the stock drive to a Time Machine backup.
