I have heard that viruses are not a problem with Apples, but what about Ad/Spyware? Is this going to become a problem if Safari becomes windows based (as is rumored)?

mac os x does not generally suffer from spyware, dont worry about that until (or if) the marketshare gets over 7% then we might see more people making spyware for us
I've never really heard of spyware or adware on the mac, but you can always install Little Snitch (at versiontracker.com) which will let you know if any apps try to send info over the internet.

ive never heard of any spyware or adware for the mac, but that doesn't mean there wont ever be any. constant vigilance and so forth...
Considering our relatively small user base, its just not worth it for people to write for Mac. Then, considering how much easier it is to get into a PC 🙂 and the relative security of OS X, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Common sense should be about as much as you need to prevent anything from happening. And definitely, do not install Norton on your system. It might work on Windows, but it has been known to cause problems on numerous occasions on Mac.
