unrar or unzip in mac osx?

Hello all,

I just bought a new mbp and new to mac osx. I was wondering which application can I use to unrar or unzip in Mac Osx? There are some programs that i wish to install but it is a .tar or .zip file. So i need a way to unzip it and install the files.

OS X can natively unzip. If you want you can also try stuffit.

For .rar files I use UnrarX, it's free, good stuff.

Unarchiver is all you need.

unarchiver won't open password protected files.

use stuffit expander

UnRarX works great. I installed it the first day I got my Mac and I keep forgetting that it wasn't included in the OS completely, since it works like Archive Utility.

StuffIt works perfectly fine for me with .rar files.

UnRarX. It's what I've used for the past year since I've moved over to Mac, and it's done it's job without me even knowing it's there. Great tool.

Large files yes, not sure about password-protected files because I haven't had to deal with those.
