My Mac secretly sending info to Apple?

In my system.log, I see this repeatedly, for almost every date:

Sep 30 07:42:45 localhost configd[107]: posting notification com.apple.system.config.network_change

Is my Mac sending info to Apple without my knowledge?

arn't the com.apple files system preferences and config files? Correct me if I am wrong.

configd is all about internal message passing. com.apple.system.config.network_change just means that something to do with the network (address, interface, firewall, whatever) was updated.
