USB Headset Will Not Stay Set As Default Input/Output After Rebooting Computer

As the subject title reads, I have a USB headset which I have plugged into my iMac at all times, but when I restart my computer I have to go into System Preferences > Sound and do change it back to play sounds through my usb headset instead of my iMac speakers...

This gets a bit annoying, so I'm hoping someone here has a solution, as I know other OS automatically detect if you have a plugged in headset/microphone and will send audio through the headset.
