I thought about getting an ipad but realized that I wouldnt have much use for it. Mainly because it's too big to be practical. That's why I love the ipod touch. Which brings me to what I would consider the perfect on-the-go device (next to the iphone) The next gen ipod would have:
5" display
10 hour battery (like the ipad)
gps
3g connectivity
a camera
add these features and apple would have imo the PERFECT mobile device

Also more storage capacity.

But, then it is going to be as expensive as an iPad.

I feel the current screen size is perfect, i wouldn't want them to change it for anything. I would like a camera however i feel if its included it will bump the price up even more when i could just use my phone for that. Not to mention if they do add a camera it will most likely be out of date quality.

3G would monopolize iPhone sales, camera is possible and the iPad can have a 10 hour battery due to the units larger size.

3G, im sorry no. At&T iPhone plan (not including texting or anything else, just the bare minimum) is $30+. That's ALOT!

Fixed that for ya.....3G would kill iPad sales, not iphone. People who want a phone will get the iPhone regardless. They wouldnt get a touch w/ 3G and rely on skype,,,,they'd want the mobile to mobile with their families...as theres benefits to that

My iPod Touch spends most of it's time strapped to my arm when I exercise. Give it a 5" screen and it would be a little large for what I primarily use it for.

You're describing the IPHONE. 3g Connectivity would mean that the iPod would become a Phone and thus you would need to pay the monthly fees. My iPod has a huge battery by the way, like 5 days with the screen off and maybe 12hrs with the screen on low.

If you want 3g without the phone plan, get an ipad...

I guess my complaint with the ipad is it's not as portable as the touch. To buy an iPad just to sit on my couch or bed and use the internet? not worth it to me. Id rather hop on my computer.
I dont necessarily want the commitment or expense of the iphone either. To me $15 or $30 a month with no contract seems fair to pay for 3g access on the iPad.
I guess a more realistic view is if they released different size iPads. Maybe one with a smaller screen, make it more portable. But then wouldnt that be an ipod touch??? :p

Does the current iPod touch have an alarm clock where I could put it in a BOSE dock and let it play music when the alarm goes off?

Try one for a week and you'll abandon both the Touch and the computer.

Do you think that maybe the iPad's battery life has something to do with the size of the battery that will fit in the device? Dr. Who solved the problem of the inside being bigger than the outside but I don't think Apple will.

I wouldn't mind an iphone with the ipad data plan. No ATT service at home, but I have wifi and at work, I do have 3g.
Ok, allow tethering too.

5 inch screen is way too big. id be happy with a higher res 3.7 inch screen but with the same size body.
