Woah! Sounds good.
Finally we are making real progress in clean energy research.
I just hope that these kind of cars make it to the consumer level as fast as possible. Imagine a big city without the pollution. That's going to be so nice!

It wasn't so much that it was filled with hydrogen as it was the paint they used, a compound similar to the modern rocket fuels NASA uses.

Paint a hydrogen balloon with rocket fuel, and you are just asking for trouble. Course they didn't know that the paint was so flammable back then.

Hmm, acceleration is pretty close to that of the 760i (5.4 0-60, ?6 for 0-66) the 1/4-mile time is good, but speed is rather low...
Top speed is darned impressive :D

That's pretty slick, but its still a far cry from actually making a production vehicle. Then there's the issue of fuel and how to get it. Not to mention filling up requires a more complicated procedure than regular gas since your dealing with things under pressure.

I'm wondering if filling up your tank for a hydrogen powered car might not mean swapping tanks instead.....

Oh no, not again! It ain't the paint (http://spot.colorado.edu/~dziadeck/zf/LZ129fire.htm).

That would be nice some day, but for now virtually all commercially available hydrogen is derived from fossil fuels at a substantial net energy loss.

well you'll be glad to know that he hasn't been designing them for a while then. :p

I passed a truck carrying compressed hydrogen on my way back from school today.

I gave him an extra lane of room :D

I heard that the kidy seat mounts right to the H2 tank.

I will believe that when BMW comes out with the new 3 series (next one in line to be updated I believe) and it doesn't look as fugly as the 1, 5, 6, 7, X3 and Z4 series cars. Currently the only tolerable cars from BMW are the 3 series and the X5, and I hate SUVs... which leaves the 3 series, too bad they got rid of the Z8.

Ahmed
