2 questions about iPod - EQ & HD noise

Should I be able to hear a "hum" or some type of noise when the iPod's drive is spinning? I only hear it when I put the iPod right up to my ear. I would assume the answer to this is yes.

Yes, it is normal to be able to hear the hard drive spinning, as you suspected. You only hear it when it needs to spin up to load the nextt batch of songs into its buffer.

i wondered the same thing when i first got my iPod, dont worry its cool and i can hear mine in a room with no other noise not close to my hear ( if that makes any sense)
