I have finally found a USB ethernet adapter that works in place of the fried ethernet port on my iMac. It plugs into the USB port and you plug your ethernet cable into the adapter. After you've installed the extension, shut down and plug the adapter in, restart and choose the USB ethernet port in the Appletalk Control Panel, change your TCP/IP settings to DHCP and it's ready to go.
I have a few for sale; if you're interested, send me an email. I'm asking $20.00 a piece for them to cover my costs and the shipping/insurance to you (USA ONLY). I finally got my iMac back online with this adapter and it works great! (I have a DSL internet connection.) It works with Mac OS 9.2.2 and above, and also works with PC computers. It includes the CD with drivers for both Mac (OS 9.2.2 through 10.x) and PC.
