I saw this thing on Fox News Chicago last night: The International CXT.

A pickup that dwarfs a Hummer! Any bigger and you would need a commercial driver's license.

her this beast would need already a commercial driving license
the H2 with it's 3,2 tons is already borderline (3,5 is the limit)
put alot of things into you H2 or try to pull soemthing on the streets and wait for the police asking you for your truck driving license ;)

I looked at the specs, and it only have 220 HP (hell, my VW GTI has more than that!), but it does have alot of torque.

I remember about a year ago Dodge took this absolutely enormous truck that they apparently build for the commercial market, and seriously discussed selling it to consumers. This thing was an absolute monster, as big as or bigger than the IH model.

Darned if I can find it now on the internet, though. It was, seriously, like a small Mack truck.

Yah, that HP can be really deceiving. My dad's largest farm tractor is about 200 HP. But let's see your VW pull around an 18 foot field cultivator all day ;) Checking the engines on the full sized semi trucks, they only have 270-430 HP depending on the model.

Four people at 150 pounds per person would put you over that limit... That is unless they were overweight Americans, then maybe three or less.

that's one awesome piece of machinery. i just checked the dealer locator as well, no dealers in Australia? :confused: oh well, i guess i'll have to get mine shipped over from New Zealand. :p

I can't believe I actually saw one today on the road. I wouldn't have recognized it if it hadn't been for this thread.

They were towing a large, dual axle trailer home. Pretty nice little setup, but friggin huge!

The key is that it is a diesel and not gas so it kicks on tork which is what you need to get the load rolling. After that you do not need a lot of ponies to keep it going.

I don't understand why this thing keeps being mentioned in the same breathe as the hummer. The Hummer is not a commercial truck. this vehicle does not compete with the hummer. I mean, for cripes sake, the hummer isn't even a pickup truck, its an SUV (or an SUT if you have a hummer H1 truck, but its still not a real pickup truck). Chevy, ford, GMC, they all make trucks as big or bigger than this thing, and in fact theirs are probably a lot more versatile and more practical given the amount of upfitters options for them whcih is relaly the important thing in a commercial truck (most commercial users are not going to use a regular pickup bed) This vehicle is really not that big a deal.

i would say the buyer group is the same...people who look out for something big...

(and driving around with such a huge thing like an H2 or this over here would kill my nerves completly)

Why oh why would anyone need such a "thing".
I do understand that if you are wealthy you do want to show off with a shiny car, but this ain't a car. The oil price is at its highest ever and still people want to buy crap like this.
Well for those that need a truck for work, I could understand but this…
Anyway I hope that this does not become the new standard for big cars and that every manufacturer starts building consumer trucks like this.

i also meant to say about the Escalade - i really shouldn't have compared that to the CTX, i mean the CTX has got a leather interior with wood grain trim. the Escalade has just got a wheelie bin cut in half for the dash. :p

Some are still wondering why someone needs a truck this big. Well, this truck is not meant to be a rich boy's toy like the sissified H2. This truck is designed to haul huge loads that can't be hauled with smaller trucks. Ford has a similar truck, the F-650 Super Crewzer. Look at that giant trailer it's pulling. :cool:

You may want to watch these things on roads, especially in California. Most residential streets have a weight limit of 6000 lbs. Although it isn't enforced yet it may become an issue in the future.
