Anyone here have a classic car they admire from the old days? I have always liked the Boss Mustang, and there was that cool Shelby Mustang in Gone in 60 Seconds.

You have expensive but good tast. What about a Healey 3000 or 100. I also loved the Pantera.

I'd edge the Frogeye ahead of the 3000, because of it's unusual looks and thus individuality. :)

They are both cool cars and I guess if you were a purest you would put a 100S on your list.

merc GULWING that would be the 300 SL ;)
Well, definitely the GT500 (the Shelby Mustang from Gone in 60) and of course a Ferrari 250 GTO.
Hmm, have to add a 427 Cobra in there too.... :D
OH! And a DeLorean, complete with Mr. Fusion™ and Flux Capacitor

The 300 sl is a nice car. I went to the mercedes plant in Vance, Alabama once and they have one in their museum there. It is in perfect condition and still has the original custom luggage that came with them.

my absolute fav would be the shelby ac cobra.
living in l.a., it's amazing what you see on the streets on a daily basis...
i saw a pristine ferrari daytona coupe yesterday( and no it wasn't a kit). i've seen multiple 300sl gullwings, shelby's( including a vintage ac cobra and the "gone in 60 seconds" car), and lotsa vintage muscle cars. one of my neighbors drives a lambo espada as daily transportation....certainly not the sexiest lambo ever made, but it's not eurotrash either...
other fav's:
ford woody( so southern cali!)
ford gt40
porsche 356 speedster
pantera( 2 seats and a 351 cleveland-what else do you need?)
RR flying spur
sunbeam tiger
triumph tr3
toyota fj55( stage 3 restoration by TLC)
1936 cord
auburn boattail speedster
jag xk120 drophead coupe
1956 jag xkss ( ala steve mcqueen)
oh, and the 2004 honda cr-v( so i don't feel too crappy about what i really drive...:D)

Porsche 917 (Gulf livery!)
Ferrari 312B (F1) /PB (LeMans)
Ferrari 512M
Jaguar D-Type
Ferrari F2004 (it's not a classic yet, but it will be :D)
And just about any Duesenberg

Your taste in women might possibly be exceeded by your taste in automobiles. :pDarn right. I'd rather pull up in a classic like this than in a new Ferrari or something, and have everyone think you're a self indulgent little wanker
...now, Keira in the passenger seat, the "look" is complete :d :p

I'm currently in the market to buy a 65 - 69 Ford Mustang Fastback, these things are quite hard to get over here. It needs a lot of research before just diving in, could be an expensive mistake. Fortunately my dad knows a lot about cars and I have some collegues who collect & restore classic cars (mostly MG's).

Yeah, there are all kinds of classic cars. I would even say the Dodge Viper is reaching an age where it could be called a modern classic.
GM made a few cool cars too back in the day, I will give them that. ;)

Used to have a 68 Mustang Fastback GT. Beautiful car, but it was always in a state of repair/restoration. Tough being a college student and simultaneously working full-time to be able to put the time/money into it she deserved. The car was totalled three days after Christmas, five years ago. A very sad day.
Now I've got an 89GT, black with a tan interior. The exterior has been repainted and the exterior upgraded with a Stalker nose and a Cobra rear bumper; had bodywork twice (once to reskin a door when an ***hole broke in and stole a cheap toolbox, second to repair a rear end accident). It's not a 68, but it is more reliable and a lot of fun to drive.
The ultimate 'stang, in my book, would be a 68 Shelby GT500KR, convertible. That's got style and ooomph. Interesting story, there was a doctor in Fairfield county, CT that had this exact same car as a "daily driver." Unrestored and no alarm, until about 10 years ago, when he finally had a ground-up restoration done.
Then again, there is the new Ford GT. A bargain at only $142,000.

I would have to say the citroens. I have a 71 ds21 and it looks great even though it doesn't run yet it still looks great and you can't beat the price of 500 dollars! Maybe I will post a pic later.

My favourites are:
1963 Jaguar E-type
1974 Lotus Europa
but I could add the following for varying degrees of interest:
NSU Ro80
Fiat X1/9
Citroën SM
1961 Lincoln Continental 4 door convertible

I'm thinking of a 1968 Porsche Targa...
We all reminisce about the cars we lusted after when we were kids. Sure, I think a Cord 812 or an Auburn Speedster is beautiful, but I can't picture myself driving it.
As for GM, their best car was the 1966 Corvair Corsa.

Well I guess it depends on what you call classic (I know people who would call early 90s classic and people who would not call anything from the 80s classic).
I like a few "classic" cars but right now my fav would probablly be mid/late 60's Mustangs.

Corvette Stingray and Shelby Cobra.
Those two I'd buy in an instant if I'd have the money. But buy the time I do I guess there'll be no gasoline driven cars anymore. :D
