New item icons on apple.com portable'

I was on apple.com/store today there are the New item circle on the ibooks and PowerBooks.

Does this happen alot? or am I just looking to deep into this whole thing hoping for new portables soon?

Neither the iBooks nor Powerbooks are "new," per se:

I noticed the "new" label too. I think it's been there since April, can't be sure though.

The circles are on the product pages, not the store front page. Almost thought there was an update tomorrow.

those are the same specs on the powerbook that were there when i bought mine back in may. It is basically just a processor update, and it has been there for a while.

How Long does apple normaly keep the items listed as new?

It seems to have been awhile since the last update (see buyers guide).
