Hi everyone.

I'm going to install a SSD on my imac 27 and have a little doubt. After installing the SSD on the imac, how do I boot from the DVD drive since the new SSD doesnt have any drivers? I know that to boot from the DVD drive I must press C on the keyboard, but I think that works just because the original HD has the drivers inside to understand that command. Since the new SSD doesnt have any drivers installed on it (it is completely empty), how will the imac recognize the apple bluetooth keyboard when I press C to install Mac OS X from the DVD? My guess is that the imac wont even recognize the bluetooth keyboard, so I find it impossible to boot from the DVD pressing C.

Any other ways? Or maybe I'm wrong and the imac will recognize the bluetooth keyboard?

Btw don't get frightened if at first you don't see a drive where you can install the OS X. If you bought a brand new drive it has no partitions, so you have to partition it first with the disk utility -tool (also found in the OS X install).

I just got my iMac y'day and I'm thinking of swapping my HD for an SSD.

Which one are you guys using?

Also, I understand this voids warranty; is this on the HD, or the entire unit?

Thanks.
