Most absynthe on the market is fake, it's been stripped of it's psychoactive chemical (extracted from wormwood bark). The good stuff is available in Europe, tho there's the "safe" kind there too ;)

you're right, last time i was back home in England (2 yrs ago) absinthe was readily available in the supermarkets etc, but it was not the stuff of legends by any means. :(
