I want to trade my 5 month old eMac for an iBook.

My emac has 512mb, 60GB ram and Tilt/Swivel stand. No box though as I chucked it away.

So... in London how much do you reckon i could get for it?

Do eMacs hold their value well? My research in eBay wasnt very positive http://forums.macrumors.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=54#

Does it have superdrive etc.?

Couldn't find the eBay link. What sort of prices are you getting?

I'd pay $60.74 and a pack of Bubblemint™ Orbit gum.

Why? Because that's all I have in my pocket (or anywhere else really :()

What did you pay for it? Is it the 1Ghz? SuperDrive? Hard to say without more info. They range in price from 499.00 to 1,300.00 US. If you have the earlier model with no SuperDrive, don't expect to get more than 3-400.00 US. (Not sure how many thruppences that is)

That 60gb ram uprade is easily a $5,000 upgrade.

I'm no scammer, i is legit.

I wrote that late at night, hence the rubbish writing. Anyways, it has not got a Superdrive, and its 60Gb Hard Drive, not Ram!

Not sure what else to mention, its in immaculate condition though.

I've not put it on eBay yet, but i checked on eBay to see what prices they command. My initial look did not please me.

Anyone fancy a straight swop for a Powerbook?

You could probably trade that eMac for an 700MHz G4 iBook or a 500MHz G4 PB. Have you checked with other places on the internet to see if they'd do a trade for what they have in stock?

UK, maybe 2, 300 pounds...? If you sold it and marketed it really well, and sold it to a sucker, pushing on £400 maybe... Thats my guesstimate :)

Edit: Ooops URL didn't post. On ebay.co.uk, just search eMac in computing.

The 1.25MHz, 256MB/40GB Combo Drive sells for £549; a tilt'n'swivel stand is £35+. This has double the RAM and a larger HD. Assuming it's a 1.25MHz model, I'd say £400 without the need for a sucker.

No box...? Only £150 more to get one brand new from apple with the warranty and box and manuals... I'd say roughly £350 then :)

:( Only £350? Wha?....... I paid about £600 4 months ago. Thats heavy depreciation. Even my dads Rover 800 held its value better then that (if you dont know the UK 2nd hand car market- the Rover 800 is one of the most difficult cars to sell 2nd hand - my dads one was a good example why)

I now officially declare this thread.... Closed.
