I am new to this forum. I have poked around a little looking for an answer to my problem. But will readily admit that my search was only cursory. So if I have missed a solution already posted, please forgive me.

I have a relatively new iMac running OS X 10.3.5. When using iTunes for something as trivial as playing back a CD, it will function fine until I start accessing the internet via a browser or another application (MS IM for example). Within minutes the audio starts to break up, chatters, warbles and eventually fails altogether. Seems to happen quicker if network activity is larger. I will shut down iTunes. Often the OS will demand that I do a hard restart. Or the OS will lock up entirely.

Any idea what my problem is?

To my knowledge I am current will all standard software updates.

Thanks

That's strange. Does it only happen when you go online? Or does it happen when you open any other program? Does it happen with only one playlist?

I'd try repairing permissions and trashing the preferences. See what that does.

Good luck,
