I tried to restore to 3.1.3. I plugged it in, shift-clicked restore, selected a clean 3.1.3 IPSW.
It seemed to restore all right, but...
Now its hanging, with both progress bars almost complete -- it has been this way for over an hour. If I unplug it and reboot it, I'll get stuck at the recovery screen

DFU restore doesn't work. Nothing works. Not even restoring to 3.1.2 (same effect)

Please help. I'm afraid I have a paperweight on my hands right now.

It might be permanently bricked. Have you taken it to apple store?
