Backing up iPhone on different PC?

hey guys,

ive just put my iphone on ebay but realised as im away from home if it sells i dont have the usual PC to sync it to to backup and restore it, i do have my netbook though running OSX so can i backup to the netbook and format it off that if it does sell and then sync my next iphone with the netbook, or does it have a link to only the main PC and wont backup onto another PC ?

I've not restored my iPhone on another computer for a long time but from what I remember when you tap restore it asks if you want to create a backup.
