on the pc side, one could simply build what they want and have choices of motherboards, processor, hard drives, ram, etc (nowdays it's not more economical becuase the big companies get such a break buying in huge bulk)

but what if you could build your own mac? ...and get the parts at office depot, fry's, or circuit city?

and what if laptops had more standard parts...and ample room inside (1/4' to 1/2" inch more)...what would you build? (granted, something like this would look bulky like my old rev a ibook;) )

i would build a mac desktop in a quicksilver enclosure, dual 1 ghz processors, maxed out ddr RAM when that becomes available, superdrive, motherboard with fatest available bus, and 128 MB video card

and if i could build a mac laptop, i would use current fastest processor..800 g4..ddr ram when it became avaiable...the ibm 72 GB hard drive..and the 64 MB ati video card pc laptops are using now (i would also like the stadard ports now used and have the superdrive when that became available):D

Silvor, I think you'll find that the top of the line sound cards are made by Digidesign and are quite Mac compatible, just thousands of dollars.

Somebody already started a thread like this!!:p

But here I go!!

Dual 1GHZ in a TiBook!!
1Gig DDR Ram
100GB HDD @10,000 rpm
128MB DDR Nvida graphic card
Superdrive 32x16x16x10x40
Lithium-Ion Polymer dual capacity battery 10hrs

Why not go all the way?:p

in 2 years, that will be obsoliete. Funny how stuff works like that.

I'd want what u put down, just have it be .5 inches thick and have the screen be 17 inches w/ a resolution of 1280 x 1024, just like the 17" ASD. Also, bump that RAm up to 2 gigs and that HD to 180 gigs.
