I have a 30GB iPod video. Whenever I plug it in it says that it is in recovery mode and must be restored. When it is restoring it makes a weird buzzing noise. It restores no problem. But when it connects to the itunes library it copies a few songs and then freezes and gets ejected. I know it has nothing to do with my computer because my other ipods connect fine. How do I fix this?

Sounds like the hard drive is dying. You can Google for instructions on how to replace the drive in your model, or there are people you can send it to (besides Apple) for repair.

Or it could be time to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

Ifixit has all the tools and hardware you need to fix it!
it's about 20$ for the tools and 109$ for a new hard drive!
so I would say buy a new one

If you don't know how to do it, take it to the Apple Store and they will fix it to you.

Fixing the 5th generation iPods were easy and fun. I made a lot of money fixing those in middle school :D

There are hard drives that are pretty cheap on eBay such as this one. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPod-30GB-MK3008GAL-Hard-Drive-100-Guaranteed-/320539629815?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Other_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item4aa1a698f7#ht_500wt_1040)
