View Full Version : iMac 27in + CinemaView Duo + Two(2) CinemaView 24s

I have a 27in i5. I am looking for a bit more screen real estate(day trading, graphic editing, etc.). I know that in theory these iMacs can only be hooked up to one additional display via the mini display port.

However, in my search to find monitors that would look good next to the beautiful iMac - I found this (http://www.cinemaview.com/product/cinemaview-duo) little unit. It is called a CinemaView Duo and I guess I would plug this into the iMac 27 mini display port, giving me two more.

Could I then hook up two of these (http://www.cinemaview.com/product/cinemaview-24-display) to the Duo unit and get the triple screen setup I am after?

I would like to have the iMac situated in the middle for aesthetic purposes, but I am not sure this can be done. Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas/comments? Thanks!

I'm not sure adapters like that would allow for the monitors to be on each side of the imac and function accordingly.

That is the one thing preventing me from going forward with a similar set up.
I'm personally waiting for Mac Pro refresh simply to get the option to multi-screen properly.

Sorry it won't do what you want. The two screens it drives need to be next to each other.

This is similar to what the Matrox TripleHead2Go boxes do. The two extra displays will have to be side by side. But it should get you 3 displays.

Hmm..thanks for your comments guys! Does anyone out there no of a way to get a triple screen setup with the iMac front and center? I am open to ANY suggestions regardless of $$$ amount.

How about those USB video adapters?

Something like http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20Technology/VIDU2DVIA/ will run 1080P screens, but not the CinemaView - the USB adapter does not do miniDP.

Of course you could then pick up a DVI to miniDP adapter if you have to have a CinemaView, but it would be cheaper & easier to pick up something with a DVI port.

BTW USB is not the best way to hook up a screen and tends to be slow showing video and such. For displaying web pages and such people have had good luck.
