Hello all I'am from Australia

2010 is a big year for me with my iphone 3g contract to expire in july, which means i can finally grab a slice of the fourth Gen Iphone, and my first bite into a Imac computer.

Being a long time PC vista user 3 unfortunate years I'am tired of the windows world, yesterday I went to JB HI FI and i got quoted for $3,450.00 AU for an IMAC 27 Inch model which is orginally $3,626.00 AU.
with i7 2.8ghz processor
8gigs of ram
extended warranty and ms office

I'am holding off till tuesday to wait for WWDC to see if there is any news on Imacs. If there isn't I assume that it will be a quiet update, should i wait for the quiet update or buy one after the conference blows over.

True. Apple may be set to update the iMac soon, though I don't think it will be at WWDC. The problem is that Apple never pre-announces updates to existing products with the exception of the iPhone (and that's usually just a couple of weeks) so even though Apple might be updating a product in a few days, to the user it feels indefinite. Buy when you need it. Any iMac update, whenever it occurs, will likely be minimal anyway.

And what should they update the i7 with? Could only be a minor update.
The more likely product to be updated is the mini, followed my the Mac Pro.

The buyers guide is an average of the lifetime of the unit. In more recent years, the iMac and other mac computers have been on longer product cycles than they traditionally have been. Apple also recently just caught up with the demand of the iMac, plus there is nothing to really put into the high end right now. Don't expect anything for a few months.

My assumptions were also that this years imac may get a bump in the video to a 1gb and some added feature, Although I got a gut feeling that the Imac is ready for a redesign with the release of the new OSX but i can't wait till next year vista is driving me nuts.

The iMac was just redesigned to the current 16x9 form factor. As for the 1gb video card, the Mac Pro doesn't even have one yet. Don't expect it.

Chances are the new iMac announced after any refresh will cost more as the Australian dollar has started loosing value. I bought a refurbed i5 which for the money is kick ass value.

I purchased my 1st iMac 27 through JB-Hifi and it was stuffed dealing with them to get a refund was not pleasant, you'd be better off purchasing through Apple online should you need an exchange or refund.

It doesn't look like the iMac has reached its update cycle yet. I'm assuming that it'll be somewhere in Sept - Oct. I HIGHLY doubt we'll see anything at WWDC this year. Simply because the iMac is still very new and fresh. i7 is the best processor at this point, and it just doesn't make sense for them to refresh a whole line of computers just to put a new video card in there.
