New MacBook Air or no MacBook Air tomorrow I'm glad the waiting, hope and anticipation is soon coming to an end.

If we get a new MBA tomorrow ... woo hoo I'll be able to complete the final piece of the puzzle into planning my computer set up in which a new Air would fit perfectly :)

If no new MBA tomorrow, that's fine, so be it. I and I expect MANY others with move on with other plans, whether it be a 13" MBP, Sony Z whatever.

I'm sure many are tired of 'wondering and speculating'. I've given it until WWDC to see what develops with the Air.

After that it's too late. Waiting for a Fall or 2011 update is a joke (imo) for a product as incredible as the Air ... sure maybe they can't do the major overhaul they want to now because of tech limitations *but* they need to do something even if it's minor.

If not, then it's clear to me where the MacBook Air sits with the plans of Apple.

Here's to hoping for a new Air tomorrow !!

Dear Steven Jobs,

It's becoming clearer every long and arduous day that passes that you are not just content killing off the Air for a device that is unusable as a internet tool on many websites and needs a case just to keep your arms from going numb, but that you take a sadistic pleasure in leaving Air fans without even the slightest word on whether they will even get any updates before you slaughter it for your upcoming iAd revenues.

The few who have held on are now facing the empty void, devoid of any clear legitimate reasons as to why. We are left pitifully begging for a sign, any sign, that even a minor update will happen. Alas no word, just banners advertising a bunch of cheesy and pointless apps that jingle and sparkle but fall flat, even as timewasters in supermarket checkout queues (except for Fieldrunners, geoDefense, Google Earth, N.O.V.A, Atomic Web Browser, Wunder Radio, Labyrinth 2, NetShare, Enigmo, iTeleport, Air Video, Juxtaposer, Skeptical Science, Remote, Solitaire City, Navigon, Words With Friends and Shazam)

As tomorrow finally arrives and our update sails off into the distance leaving us to die alone on our stranded iSland of Apple's forgotten and betrayed and unwilling to wait for the 13" MBP to get as thin as the gloriously svelte Air, we will move on (however hard that may prove to be without posting long angry posts for years to come).

Yours sincerely,

Air today, gone tomorrow.

I tend not to get my hopes up since I'm almost always dissapointed. The new iPhone should be great though and the macs would be a good boost as well.

You know- I am so sick of ipad / ipod/ iphone, AT&T news. I really think that tomorrow's event is going to be all about those things. Yes, I understand that these are now Apple's "chosen" items (as well as their cash cows) but one has to wonder how long can apple just have these minor updates to their computer line and expect to stay competitive.

I am looking forward to the possibility that Apple will update the MBA tomorrow. However, I still believe it's more probable that Apple will quietly update the MBA some Tuesday after WWDC. It all comes down to switching the production facility around to making MBAs. It seems obvious that they updated the MBP, and when there were enough 13" MBPs in inventory, they moved to the MB. They were smart to update the MB next, because the back to school promo started the next week. Most "education" sales are basic MacBooks, so it made sense to get those updated with the new Nvidia 320m.

When the MB inventories can meet demand, I assume the MBA, Mac mini, and 21.5" iMacs will be in line for production. The MacFive model really makes it likely that Apple will update the MBA with the Nvidia 320m. I would gladly be wrong if we get a Core i7 and discrete GPU. However, with Apple's track record with the GMA on the MBA, we're better off with the Nvidia 320m and C2D CPU. I don't believe a discrete GPU will find its way into the MBA, and I believe that the MacFive will likely all get these C2D CPUs and Nvidia 320m GPUs. In Early 2011, Apple will be forced to use a different strategy. At that time, it can move forward with AMD CPUs and ATI GPUs, or it can decide to go "backwards" and give us all GMA HD for graphics... problematic for certain.

I believe this move with the C2D and Nvidia 320m, and Steve's reply telling people why the 13" MBP kept C2D and Nvidia's GPU, tells us Apple will NOT go backwards and solely use Intel's GMA ever again. I really believe we're all much better off with AMD CPUs and ATI GPUs. Apple can provide us with much better MacFive computers with AMD/ATI solutions. Intel has essentially cut off its entire "low-end" business line chips with Apple by making the anti-competitive move to axe Nvidia from the market. As is typical, the anti-competitive company has cut its own throat by making the move.

Anyways, I don't think a WWDC without an MBA update means the MBA will not get an update some quiet Tuesday after WWDC... or maybe even the Tuesday morning after the keynote! I am not going to give up on Apple if they don't update the MBA tomorrow, because I don't believe there's much to "show off" at the probable update coming for the MBA. What is SJ going to stand up there and say look at these beautiful new MBAs... sure they look the same on the outside, but they're different on the inside... now using the Nvidia 320m... oh, nevermind I guess they have the exact same CPU too! Um, move on to the next slide please. I just don't think the evidence supports any other update tomorrow... again, I will be happy to be incorrect.

I would love for it to be a Core i7 with an ATI 5430 GPU, two RAM slots, 160 GB Intel SSD, IPS display, and glass trackpad... but I really give that about a 3% chance. The only WWDC update for the MBA will be if Apple decides to "test" a 3G/4G Verizon card in the MBA. Apple could definitely "show off" the MBA, even with minor GPU updates, if it includes a new service offering by Verizon. I don't believe it would show off the MBA if it were to get a 3G card from AT&T either. I truly believe the best shot at a WWDC MBA update is a new Verizon partnership.

Anyways, I guess we will find out if Apple updates the MBA at WWDC tomorrow... but I don't think we should "give up" on an MBA update soon after WWDC if Apple doesn't announce it tomorrow. I still believe there's only about a 10% chance that Apple doesn't update the MBA at all. It just makes sense to go ahead and switch to the new GPU. It makes sense even if it's about costs from not having to buy more 9400m GPU/chipsets from Nvidia. It's cheaper to implement one product across all MacFive products. However, there's always the possibility that Apple will not see it necessary if the MBA doesn't sell well or if they just don't care about it and don't have the time for it now. Apple is pretty darn busy selling iPhone OS products.

Now, it's time to think positive. Sixteen hours and counting... down...

steve just wants to make all the macbook air owners happy. discontinue it today, and those puppies shoot up in value, I don't want this because I need to get an air again and don't want to pay 1800 for a rev b 120gb version. i can see this happening though, imagine selling your rev c 2.13 air for 3000k, how happy would you be that we've come back full circle!

(This whole post was written with sarcasm, if the air is discontinued I will key my own car in anger)

I really hope it wont be just a silent upgrade! Stevie said he would take things to another level! So lets hope the macbook air turns out to be that hot sexy model that every man want's to have yet only a lucky few can afford.

Blow me away Stevie! 15" screen real state -4GB RAM - killer graphics- ix CPU and skinny/thin casing!:D

I too am tired of waiting, sold my mid 2009 last week and feel empty and a large void! So please :apple: don't let me down! The Macbook pro 13" SSD is just too heavy for me!

Sadly, I don't have closure :(

I will try to wait until the 24th when the new iPhones come out... after that I'll have to make some tough decisions based on any new information that becomes available, if any.
