I'll be there. Hopefully have a pre-order so I can be in and out and off to work.

I'll be out. Trying to decide what time to hit the line. Thinking around 5:30 or 6.

I'll be there, I have a reservation (which I'm not sure means anything) but I'll prolly be there around 6:30-7:00. Does anybody know if I'll need to be there earlier?

The mall opens at 5, so that's probably when I'll get there. I have a reservation as well.

Do you know how they are gonna do things? Lol I've read so much info on how people think the stores are gonna handle it, so I don't know how they will do it at woodland. I was there when the ipad 3G was launched, and it seemed to me like they only had one line. I went there for a different reason so I just got to walk in lol but I'm wondering if maybe the line was for walk ins, and reservation people got to walk in like I did? Idk haha

CORRECTION: Mall opens at 6 AM, not 5.

I plan to be there when the mall opens. The store could not tell me what arrangements the mall had made for early arrivals (<7 AM). I am hoping the Apple store staff would have some coffee for the die-hard fans who show up before the store opens.

I did not pre-order my iPhone online as I am hoping to get one at the store on launch day. We'll see how that works out. I'll be really disappointed if they don't have any iPhone for walk-ins like me.

Does anyone know which mall entrance we should line up at if we get there before 5 AM?

I was wondering that as well, as I've never been to the Apple store for a launch. But I was thinking maybe one of the two entrances nearest the Macy's dept. store? It's the closest one to the Apple store. I dunno. :P

Confirmed 6 AM mall opening with AT&T, Apple and the Mall office. Apple and AT&T will open at 7 AM.

Also confirmed that they WILL have iPhones for walk-ins. I don't see any point in getting there before the mall opens, especially if you have a reservation/pre-order.

Hey all, I'm new here but was interested in who else was gonna be there in the morning. I was there last year for the 3G S launch around 5:30. The security guard opened the door around 5:45 and there were 2 lines outside the apple store around the statue. One for reservations and the other for walk-ins. They did have coffee and water for the first people in line. The people who had reservations were able to go in before others. Hope this answers some of your questions.

Ps. the reason I'm getting there early is incase the white iPhone 4 magically appears for the first few customers.

Anyone know which entrance to be at? I'm thinking 5am for me. I have one reserved but want to get two, since the Apple Store app didn't like me signing up for two..

Hello,

Myself and about another dozen folks are in Holland, MI at an iPhone Developer training conference. We're considering coming to GR ~5am and wait in line. Does anyone have any idea what our chances of getting the new iPhone are? From past experience, did early arrivers get the newest iPhone or were they turned away empty handed. I'm from Kansas City and just trying to get a feel of what to expect and any tips/hints/etc are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Has anyone confirmed today if they will indeed have any devices for walk-ins and if so approximately how many?

I was thinking about getting there around 2am, but I was not sure if the mall security would have an issue with it. Has anyone been there early before? Will they let you line up or stay in your car?

When I called the apple store yesterday they said line up at 5am.

They didnt say anything about inventory when I asked.

Last year it was raining so everyone stayed in their cars until a security guard came out and shined his flashlight to tell us he was opening the doors. I got there last year and around 5:45 there was only maybe 10 cars in the parking lot. Most people didnt arrive until around 6:30.

I really dont see the point of lining up around 2. Its not like you get to line up outside of the store, just the mall. Plus it most likely will be storming all night.

Don't you expect a lot more people this year since att is not selling them tomorrow and the fact that it is a major upgrade for most people? I'd just hate to get there at 530 and be out of luck since I wasn't able to get a pre-order to go through.

My understanding is that the stores will have plenty for walk ins, but the reservations just get in first..

Getting up at 5am, shower, and hitting the road by 5:20. Should hit the mall by 5:40. Have reservations for two. Did the same for the iPad launch, but didn't have reservations, intended to walk-in. Got there about an hour and half before opening and ended up about 15 or 20th in line. The Apple staff came out a few times and briefed us on how everything would work. They let just about an equal number of reserved and walk-ins in the store at the same time. Took me about 45min (after opening) before I got in. There were still late arriving reserved people waiting in their line. I think the 5:30-5:45am timeframe is good. Not too early to have to camp out, and not too late to be there most of the morning - if history tells us anything.

Good luck tweeple.
Plan on tweeting updates. Follow me @spicoli if you want.
Peace.

Got here about 5:15am. Looked to be about 150 people lined up outside. About 5:30, they came out and split us up. Reserved and not. Now inside and about 30 in line. Waiting for the black curtain to drop. Guessing at least 250 people here now. Glad I've got a reservation. :-)

This line is unbelievable. If you don't have a pre-order, you're basically screwed.

I've been standing in line since 5:30 Am, and the walk in line literally has not moved an inch. For every thirty people from the pre-order line, one walk in gets in. I am not making that up. That is what an actual apple employee told me when I asked. I wouldn't be that mad if, you know, it was actually possibly to reserve one online.
God, I am really pissed off.

I was actually the first one in the store, after sitting outside since around 4pm the day before. I think I earned my place in line considering the Miley Cyrus ticket jokes and the security guard threatening to call the police if you piss in the parking lot.

BTW, the only reason I ended up being able to get a reservation was because of a post on Twitter. Kevin Rose of Digg and TechTV posted that the only way he could get a reservation was using the Apple Store app. So I downloaded it and got my reservation fairly painlessly. Thank god for Twitter in this case huh?

I got there about 8:15pm and waited about 5 minutes and bought my phone in about 10 minutes. It was simple and painless. I'm glad I didn't decide to wait in line! Lol p.s. I forgot to mention I had a reservation haha

Same story at Somerset in Troy. Very poor, unfair process, if you ask me. I walked out after 4 hours of waiting with about 50 people in front of me. I would think that waiting with Apple fans would be a great experience if the walk-ins weren't being treated so poorly. I'll wait two weeks or so for it now.

I had my reservation too, but I decided that I wanted to wait in line with everyone. I did feel a little bad for the guy who had been sitting out there for four hours longer than me (he got there at noon and I got there at 4pm). Half the fun, if you can do it, is waiting for it. Unfortunately I had run out of energy waiting inside the mall..
