My Superdrive died on me a few months ago. My birthday is in a few weeks so I decided to ask for that. The thing is, I don't know which one I need, where to look and if I can get one for a cheaper price than what they go for.

Go here.

Not only do they have excellent resources for helping you figure out what you need, but their pricing is good. They have great videos and instructions for installation too.

The tech specs: any 9.5mm high slot-loading DVD-RW drive will work.

I'd expect that you could easily find one new, with warranty, under $90.

We install 'em parts and labor for $159, but many Apple shops don't do it for that low.
