Guitar Hero without the guitar. Makes perfect sense.

Terrible lag on the iPhone 3G. Works great on the iPad though.

It has been a while since I played many games on my iPhone - is there any option for TV out in these games now (NON JB)??

Because the actual guitar hero is really anything like playing a guitar at all? (Disclaimer, I do play guitar and I rarely play Guitar Hero).

I'm impressed, anyway, at the $2.99 pricetag for a major franchise. Doubtless they're interested in the massive opportunity for impulse buying song packs. Does it have over-the-air multi-player?

After playing some Beatles Rock Band over the weekend, I guess it would help my rhythm some, but meh, turning on the dirty channel on my amp and shredding is mostly more fun. :)

i you use a 3G, don't even bother. It stutters and is pretty much unplayable during high note sections. I'll load it on my iPad and give it a try later. Seems fun, will probably enjoy it with a new iPhone 4 when I get one.

Perhaps you haven't noticed the Guitar Hero franchise is one of the best selling games on every major gaming platform? lol A lot of people care. :p

I don't think guitar hero ever helped me with rhythm. Hell, GH isn't supposed to be like playing the real guitar ... if it is they seriously missed the mark.

I love the game and for the price tag I will buy today.

On the outset the game runs in iPhone mode on the iPad and looks crap. I **** you not. I am fairly pissed, I didn't notice this but it's my fault. It says it's ok for the iPad.

Will try on my 3G.

Update: It took well over 2 minutes to load on my 3G. It is not even worth playing at that point. I did install then reboot the device. Once it did load the gameplay is fun, like on RockBand (which I bought as well previously). The problem I do have is without headphones you can't hear the music in the beginning but you're "playing" chords.

I mean it's worth the $3, what's $3 today right? But on the 3G it loads like a bear. I did in fact get past a song and it didn't crash. We'll see what happens if I try to play after using my phone throughout the day. RockBand crashed on me a number of times.

On the new iPhone this game should be a dream. They are indeed relying on in-app purchasing. Once you get through their small amount of songs on all three levels you're going to want more I'd imagine.

It running on the iPad is nice but the fact that it's not optimized for it sucks.

One of the cultural phenomena which has damaged our perceptions of what is cool and what is lame.

Its not the worst offender.

Not as bad as Hip-Hop or rubbish like that.

But it's in the same breath.

Crashes consistently on my iPhone 3GS.
Click icon -> Activision loading screen -> 3 seconds -> back to iPhone home screen.
iOS 3.0.1

I quote Black Eyed Peas: "Where's my money at?"

You know you're getting too old when you think "everything was better before all this rubbish" :)

There seems to be a problem with the Breaking Benjamin add on pack, the background is broken...

I also had issues with it on my 3G. Guess I will have to wait until June 24th to play :)

Tried it, but don't see the point really. Guitar Hero without a guitar just wasn't interesting.

Playing this on the iPad, and its awesome. First iOS touch-based music game that I find challenging and fun. Wouldn't want to play it on slower hardware or on a smaller screen though.

I caved and picked it up, too. :) My sense of rhythm is really bad. :o It might actually really help.

can you strum with the acceleromter??

"Strumming" in this version just means you tap down on one string and slide over to the adjacent string.

It works very well, speed-wise, on the iPhone 3GS. The only issue I have so far with the screen size is figuring out how to control it -- I think using my left thumb and a couple of fingers from the other hand works.

I do think, ultimately, the in-app store will determine how the game does. Right now, I'm not super impressed with the music it's got, although I'm sure they'll add things. For $3 base, the game is really not bad...
