Replacing optical drive with extra hd (iBook, powerBook)

Is this possible? To get a really portable music-machine this is what you would want to do, since you need one hard-drive for the system and one for the music you're recording. So has anyone tried doing this? And if so - any luck?
 
i'll be takeing my ibook apart soon, i dont think it would work but it may do, it's more an issue of hight of the drive and the mounting.

edit: just realised the connector is very different.
 
It might be possible, but you would have to custom build an HD carrier to fit into the iBook. Also I'm not sure if there is a way to connect it internally. The connectors may be slightly different.
