How to stop backing up the crap on my iPod

I'm losing space due to its back up feature, and iTunes says if I turn off syncing it'll be retarded and delete everything on my iPod for some reason.

So how do I stop syncing to free up space without deleting all my apps, music, videos, etc.?

Are you talking about losing space on your computer or on your device? Why do you think that backup is the problem?

If you want to stop autosync then connect your device, select it under devices, click on the summary tab for your device and choose "Manually manage music and videos" and it will only sync what you want when you want by dragging and dropping content from its respective library or playlists to your device.
