Hi,

This is the first time I am trying to do Mac programming.
I need to communicate with my device through USB/Serial adapter. As far as I understand, I need to write a serialport library for this, but I have no idea where to even begin.
Do I really need to learn Carbon or Cocoa to do this?
I hear that some of the C libraries are not supported for Mac OS X.

I need to get this done asap, so I would really appreicate your inputs!

Thanks!

Sample code and pointers to Apple docs:

http://www.keyspan.com/support/developers/

[I ought to add that the old Apple Tech Note referenced there isn't necessary for getting serial to work under OS X. Just use the port detection stuff as shown in Keyspan's sample, and once you've found the devices it's really just like using a serial port on any Unix machine.]

Ever use python? Check out http://pyserial.sourceforge.net/ , Its nice. Serial Com is a snap with it :). I used it for my senior project to talk to my FPGA.
