Hypothetical scenario:

SWEET! After a zillion Tuesdays of woe, the 2010 Mac Pro has arrived at last! With 12 RAM slots and 12 cores, and a shiny new case, it is all you ever wanted. Except, SUPRISE! Buttsec- No optical drives! Now what? (The answer to D, of course, is that they are Apple and never use add-on chipsets for anything but Firewire)

The Mac Pro is a huge machine. I don't think that it belongs on small laptops but there is no excuse for them not being on the Mac Pro.

Well, I expect this to start with the laptops and then the iMac - the Mac Pro should be the last machine that doesn't have an optical drive anymore. At least with the Mac Pro you should be able to have everything in one box, without the very Apple-like clutter of adaptors and externals hanging from every machine.
