1.6GHz G5 iMac/ any downside

I'm thinking of getting the 1.6 G5 iMac, due to budget. Are there going to be any issues with this machine compared to say the 1.8?

Nope, only the processor speed (and bus speed) are different.

SUPERDRIVE! Its worth the upgrade alone.

I'm not sure I agree. The superdrive is slower to rip cd's and to burn them. I got a superdrive in my powerbook and I'm pretty sure it is the worst $200 I've ever spent. It all depends on what you want to use the iMac for and that is something only you can decide. Personally, I wish I could get a combo drive on a 20" iMac.

but you cant use idvd without a hack!

thanks all for replying. I'm not sure I need the DVD burn option just yet. When I do, I'll look at an external DVD burner and software. I may also get an iBook(12") in the next 6-12mths. The external burner could then also be used"out bush".
