Nice song. In my iTunes library it has 4 stars and I've put it on one of my regular (manually managed) playlists... :)

My mom used to hate when I played this song. Between this and the Cure, she'd hold up some pain killers and sing words like "I want to murrrrder myselfff" in her best whiney voice. She is cool.

And kids today think Emo was born in 2003... ;)

I've been substitute teaching as of late. The kids love to look at my iBook, and they can't believe my music collection includes the Smiths, the Cure, etc. They don't realize these bands came out when I was their age. It's a good connect and they behave better...sometimes.
Great song!

Actually, the Mozzer himself didn't think so and wrote a song (some B-Side) called "Have-A-Go Merchant" about it... ;-)
Cheers, Netzhaut.

I have a song by one of my favorite bands (the Television Personalities) and they wrote a song about how much Morrissey sucks. It's really funny too, you should look up the lyrics sometime. It's called "Another Rainy Day in Manchester."

Moz is pre-emo, Emo was born in 1994 when Weezer hit :)

If I remember rightly, the video for Every Day Is Like Sunday was shot in my home town (Southend-on-Sea, Essex, UK) in the 80s. Round about the time the old 'Royal's' shopping centre was built. What a quality shopping centre that is. Ah, those were the days.
In my opinion, it is indeed the seaside town they forgot to bomb, hence the reason I don't live there anymore.

I pretty much like that version of the song, although Colin Meloy gets the words wrong once ("Have some please tea with me").

I was really thinking of the Cure more... I do love Emo, though. But Weezer...eh. ;)

Well, damn, I just figured out what an EMO is. I guess I'm one, even at my age, judging from my music collection!

Heh, isn't it amazing? Sometimes the wheel of nostalgia turns in your favor. I know a few 17-20 year-olds who I was able to turn on to a lot of the great 70s and 80s bands that influenced most of the popular contemporary alternative bands of today. So instead of feeling like a dinosaur, I just feel O.G. ;)

Hah! I hadn't read this, and I think I already responded to that post!

I've written a curriculum that allows them to bring lyrics into the English classroom. Whatever genre, I'm going to show how the influences take place. Then show how the same works in literature. Plus, we get to jam out a bit in class!

Do you use Cemetery Gates? That song just screams out to be discussed in an English class. :D

If only Vini Reilly stuck around with Mozz a little longer. Sorry Johnny, but Vini is Manchester's finest!
