iwork and ms office triggering nvidia gfx card?

how is the battery suppose to last while writing documents if pages and ms word trigger nvidia gfx card?! do theses programs really require the nvidia card??

Download the program there (the first link) and you can set it to use the Intel GPU instead. However, you need to select "Intel Only" before launching those apps for it to work.

i already have that and im planning on using it, but i was ranting because i dont understand why a program like ms word or pages would trigger the mbp to switch to nvidia gfx, i can understand keynote and power point, but ms word ??!! word?!!

and also what harm can forcing the mbp to use the intel gpu do if any??

No harm afaik...it would be as if your computer didn't have the other card installed (in a sense).

Lots of apps trigger it...no idea why. Even Transmission triggers the Nvidia card.
