If so, you could finally be able to watch blu-ray films on your beautiful display.

Can this already happen with the mini?

I dont see the point of plugging in your PS3 into the Mac Mini or the iMac because you can just plug in your PS3 into your HDTV as most HDTVs have more than one HDMI port.

Well I suppose unless you want to use the iMac's display from connecting the PS3 to the imac via hdmi. But were not even sure if iMacs will get hdmi any time soon.

I do believe that they will at some point (and the notebooks as well).

People (myself excluded) have been complaining that iMacs with their beautiful screens still can't play Blu-rays, wouldn't his fix that?

Plus, this monitor is quite a leap over an HDTV, no? Color Gambit and all that.

Like I said though, myself excluded. Just a thought? Like there are people spending hundreds on converters to do just this. Look at the most popular thread on this bard and you'll see what I mean.

An iMac won't be any better for gaming than a TV would. Your PS3 can't output higher than 1920*1080 anyway.

I reckon HDMI on then iMacs is extremely unlikely. They only did it on the Mac Mini because people are using it as a home theatre pc.

An HDMI in however, does save a person 200usd, if they're wanting to record their gameplay in hd.

As for watching blu-rays, they'll be better on a 1080p tv, where it's native resolution. 1080p content on the 27inch iMac will be upscaled, thus blurry.

Plus the question of whether or not an iMac HDMI port would even allow INPUT.

Quite a leap over an hdtv?? NO WAY IN HELL. I know the iMac has an H-IPS panel and its nice for a computer monitor but it CANNOT replace a dedicated HDTV. There is no way that the iMac's screen and quality could EVER replace my calibrated Sony Bravia XBR6 or any other HDTVs out in the market today that looks amazing.

+1

A good computer monitor doesn't necessarily make a good television...
