Does quicktime pro include the mpeg-2 playback component with the purchase? in other words will I be able to use mpeg streamclip to convert to dv video if I buy quicktime pro? (i know just buying the component is a little cheaper but I've been thinking about buying quicktime pro anyway)

Also, will quicktime pro convert a dvd file (ripped on the hard drive) to dv format itself?

No, QT Pro does not include the MPEG-2 Playback Component.

Also QT Pro is not able to open VIDEO_TS folders or .vob files, use MPEG Streamclip to convert the MPEG-2 encoded video DVD to a .mov file using the DV codec or a .dv file.
You need the MPEG-2 Playback Component though.
