TEHRAN, Iran - The head of Iran's security council said Tuesday that the re-election of President Bush (news - web sites) was in Tehran's best interests, despite the administration's axis of evil label, accusations that Iran harbors al-Qaida terrorists and threats of sanctions over the country's nuclear ambitions.
Historically, Democrats have harmed Iran more than Republicans, said Hasan Rowhani, head of the Supreme National Security Council, Iran's top security decision-making body.
"We haven't seen anything good from Democrats," Rowhani told state-run television in remarks that, for the first time in recent decades, saw Iran openly supporting one U.S. presidential candidate over another.
Though Iran generally does not publicly wade into U.S. presidential politics, it has a history of preferring Republicans over Democrats, who tend to press human rights issues.
"We do not desire to see Democrats take over," Rowhani said when asked if Iran was supporting Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) against Bush.
The Bush campaign said no thanks.
"It's not an endorsement we'll be accepting anytime soon," Bush campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel said. "Iran should stop its pursuit of nuclear weapons and if they continue in the direction they are going, then we will have to look at what additional action may need to be taken including looking to the U.N. Security Council."

that's quite the backhanded compliment.

Heck George couldnt care a less for human rights for Americans at home let alone abroad. Look at his record of holding people in way that violates are own laws and constitution, no wonder Iran still wants him in. Hey if Iran & Russia want George in for 4 more years thats good enough reason to vote him out. I wonder how France feels about old George.

You'd think an edorsement from Russia and Iran would hurt Bush. Next N. Korea will join in. They might, we took focus off of them to invade Iraq when they actually have weapons and a guy crazier than Saddam who might actually use them. And yet, somehow an endorsement of Kerry by France would be negative too. Probably why they haven't said anything, they know some of us hate them for some reason and want Bush gone. They should endorse Bush, that would be funny. Watch his popularity suddenly plummet. Well... more, I mean.
Funny, they were with us after 9/11. They lost people too. But then they disagree with our administration (turning out to be right) and suddenly they are just as bad as Al Qaida. More hate mongering, if you're not with us you're against us. And once again, I find myself defending France. Freedom Fries. Don't worry French people, most of us thought that was stupid too. We're not all idiots. Only about half of us. :p

Maybe they'll accidently vote for Pat Buchannan again. :p
I really hope Bush does not win. I mean, of course Iran endorses him. They can do whatever they want under him, and he'd probably just invade Iraq again. "You know the guy we put in charge of Iraq? Well he has WMDs. God told me. Let's go attack them and guard their oil fields". Hey, it's worked the last couple times.

Weren't there a number of conservatives in here not long ago saying how terrorists wanted Kerry to win, even though there was no explicit endorsement from any group? Now there is an explicit endorsement from a member of the 'axis of evil' and suddenly those voices fall silent...
So, any conservatives want to explain how it was bad for the terrorists to want Kerry to win, but good for them to want Bush to win?

A guy who
wants his own secret police,
wants a de-facto theocracy,
wants us to believe God speaks through him,
favors the foreign policy and tactics of the third reich
is offended that one of the countries he named as "Evil" considers him a valuable peer.
Gee.... I'm shocked.

:D Touche.
Maybe Bush is waiting for the Pope to die so he can ascend as Holy Rollin Emperor George the First.
I can see how a simple guy like him would like the idea of ruling by divine right... it just sounds so wonderfully powerful.... Potentate.... It's like verbal Viagra. ;) :p
