Right now anyone who has Directv for over a year with an HD DVR and an extra receiver is paying around $80 a month.(at the least) That is roughly $960/yr. My wife and I watch Food Network, Discovery Channel, BRAVO ( wife only ) Animal Planet, SyFy, TLC and USA. Honestly the new Mac Mini is looking like a great way to ditch Directv and possibly save in the long run. Thoughts anyone??

How are you going to watch all that content without a cable or sat subscription?

What does the Mac Mini really have to do with this?

We ditched DirecTV about a year ago. We simply buy the latest episodes from iTunes for shows we want to watch now. For the rest, we have a Netflix account and use Plex on a Mini.

We're saving around $1,000 per year.

iTunes, Hulu (while its free) and possibly Netflix. The only drawback to this plan is Football season!
