Price Differences in Canada, UK, France

All European prices are EXCLUDING VAT. 17.5% in UK... and I don't know in France.

I know that UK VAT is 17.5% and think that it may be around 20% in France but I think it's fair to say that we do get taxed quite highly over here in Europe 😡

don't get me started on this! We get a majorly raw deal!!!

Just for kicks... comparison between the US and Norwegian store.

iBook G4 12-inch:

Apple Store Norway: USD 1,457 (This includes Norway's 23% VAT)
Apple Store USA: USD 999 (+23% VAT = USD 1229)

Difference: USD 228 (between Norwegian price and US price + Norwegian VAT)

iMac G5 20-inch:

Apple Store Norway: USD 2,759 (NOK 17.990)
Apple Store USA: USD 1,899 (+23% VAT = USD 2,335)

Difference: USD 424

Power Mac G5 Dual 2.5:

Apple Store Norway: USD 4,370 (NOK 28.490)
Apple Store USA: USD 2,999 (+23% VAT = USD 3,689)

Difference: USD 681 (I could upgrade to a 6800 Ultra for that...)


I guess some of the difference could be attributed to a higher cost of doing business in Norway, but I still feel like I'm paying more than I should have to. Oh, well.

With the Dollar so low right now I checked out the difference this month.

Price differences in Canada

The difference here in Canada for a BTO Dual 1.8 Powermac with updated video, 1gig memory, and wireless keyboard is around $450 CDN. Lets hope Apple adjusts Canadian prices soon!
