Scientists have found an honest-to-God space warp (http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/10/20/warped.space/index.html) around Earth.

Earth's spin warps space around the planet, according to a new study that confirms a key prediction of Einstein's general theory of relativity.

After 11 years of watching the movements of two Earth-orbiting satellites, researchers found each is dragged by about 6 feet (2 meters) every year because the very fabric of space is twisted by our whirling world.
Kinda makes this a bit more plausible, hmm?

I think it's easy to correct the warp, though:

The effect is called frame dragging. I believe you can fix this in After Effects. :D

This is such a drag.

I'm glad you framed it so well.

I need coffee...

The dead hand of Einstein prevails yet again!

An awesome finding. Newton and Einstein validated once again.

:p I read that so quickly, I thought you said "violated".

Which is something I really don't wanna picture.

What does newton have to do with this?

well, newton, invented gravity. Then he teamed up with
einstein to invent, the first nuclear explosion. But, their
friendship broke up when they fell in love with the same
girl, marylin monroe.

Neato. Nothing unexpected, but experimental verification of theories, however sound and verified in other ways, are what makes science science (particularly physics, which generally involves theories with very specific and testable effects, being the fundamentals of the universe and all).

Go Einstein!

(Newton, on the other hand, didn't have a whole lot to do with this, other than the fact that basic Newtonian physics are applied every time we lob something into space. He was also, unlike Einstein, a flaming jerk, but that didn't make him any less smart.)

classic :D

But you forgot their love child, Steven Hawking......

If the Earth's spin causes measurable warping, I'd love to know what the sun's warping is.

Gravity: It's not just a good idea. It's the law.

its amazing how einstein could think of all this without the technology and resources that most scientists have at their disposal today
