I was wondering if anyone has experienced a memory chip failure that they needed to use the lifetime warranty offered with the memory. I ask because outpost.com offers an off brand 1 year warranty 1gig stick for $180. And the name brand lifetime warranty is runing $300. Seems like a huge savings and the performance of the two is identical. I have never seem memory that simply fails after a period of time. I have had plenty of DOA memory in which case you simply exchange it at the store for another.

I've found if memory has a problem, it will show up early. If a problem doesn't show up within a week or two, it probably won't.
