Anyone planning on doing this store? It just opened. I asked the store and they said that there is a rule that we can't be sleeping on the street and that they might ask us to move. Rainy weather is the forecast for the launch dates FYI!:apple:

Really unsure on how many people to expect for this since the store is so new. I think I might be there at 6am on the 24th. How much do they usually keep in stock for launch days?

Wow, I didn't know they opened a new Apple store in Georgetown! Hmm, this may be interesting as I know police will not allow you to stand around on the street. But, this may be an exception due to the situation. Wonder how many phones this store will receive considering it's new. I'm sure the older stores like Tysons, Arlington, and Pentagon will receive more.

Where would they ask us to go? We might have to keep moving? Maybe start an iPhone march down Wisconsin in a circle. As far as supply, while they might not have as much stock as the older stores, I would assume it's not going to be significantly less. Apple never trys to be sloppy in its presentation.

This is a good point. But Georgetown is a hotspot. And these employees will be new to handling the iPhone launch. We'll see how it goes. Still haven't decided if this is the place i'm going to do.

For the store's grand opening we were lined up on the sidewalk along Wisconsin.....of course there were cops and security folks ensuring that people were not blocking normal sidewalk access. Since the store has just opened I don't think they have any reserved iPhones, probably everyone will be first-come-first served.

don't be so sure...I have mine reserved there...I just hope the line for the reserved VIPs is clearly marked...hopefully I can walk in around 701, pick it up and be gone.

I called the people at Clarendon to see if the Georgetown store was going to take reservations for iPhone 4, she said "I don't think so." I might call and confirm your order if possible.

I also asked one of the specialists in the G-Town store on launch day if they were taking reservations and they said no, but that they would have "plenty" available for walk-ins on the 24th.

As far as their staff being new, these people have been training at all of the surrounding stores in preparation for the G-town store. Some of the people there have been working Apple retail for years. They went through an iPad launch, I'm sure they can handle this too.

What is the story at Georgetown? Is it managed, but well timed chaos, or no one has a clue, molasses slow chaos?

Very short reserved line. Long walk in line moving five or so at a time. I've been here for five hrs and still have at least an hour or so to go! Slow!
