View Full Version : How do I tell if I can connect to wireless n router?

I've had my Powermac G3 for quite some time now. I'm purchasing a Netgear Rangemax wireless N router. How do I tell if I have 802.11 capabilities. I couldn't find it in my network utility folder. I had the wireless cards installed when I first purchased the computer. Do I even need the base station to connect to a wireless router? I'm trying not to invest too much into this computer as I'll be purchasing a new macbook pro at the end of the year, but need to get by for now. I also only have OS X 10.4.11.

Wireless n came about a year ago, so no, your PowerMac cannot have it. Most routers can do other than n though, for example b (1999) and g (2003). Check from its specs what WiFis does it support (or link it)

Check your system information and select airport. It lists what your airport is capable of.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot today and cross my fingers.
