iPod touch iAds - iPod touch 1st/iPhone 1st Gen?

So, does iAds strictly only work on the new iOS4, because what will happen for the iPod touch 1st and first gen iPhone users, when they see/tap on an iAd that is inside an app that is downloaded, or won't the ad appear at all? 😕
