iPod touch Lost my iPod Touch 3G - what am I supposed to do now?

I don't expect to get it back....

Now, anything that I should do?

My iPod Touch is passcode locked but I didn't set it to the 10-trial-erase mode.
 
Noing you can do. You lost it and now have to pay the consequences of not being more careful with your processions.

Don't leave your stuff laying around for someone to steal.

For the founder to sync and download 4.0 they'll have to use iTunes (which is of course not your account unless your mom stole it). Doing so will cause the ipod to erase all mail accounts and personal information. The only way this info is retained is through a restore process from an exisiting backup which of course the founder does not have.
 
Just let this be a life lesson for you.

If your a minor and I was your parent I think I'd think twice before I buy you an iPod again.

No. Only if the 10-code limit is set on, otherwise all your info is vulnerable. If you have MobileMe's Find my iPhone setup, you could try it. But it doesn't work that well with iPod Touches, in fact it doesn't work at all with mine.

Is there a way to protect your data?
 
Remember this incident and include it on your resume if you ever decide to apply for a job at Apple as a software engineer 😀
