Hey guys since no one has said where to start the lines outside the mall and since it has multiple entrances, I am going to say that the line starts in the Nordstrom Parking garage (Lower floor parking garage, first floor of mall). It is on Boedeker between Park Lane & Northwest Hwy. That is the closest entrance to the Apple Store. The mall opens at 5AM.

Both LINES (Reservations & Non-reservations) WILL start here. I have attached a map of northpark.

Map attached.

Lancao, will you keep us update as to whether they will move the line outside? I will be by sometime tonight...

Yeah I will, I'm just trying to avoid having two lines and then not knowing who got here when, so I've been checking the entrance every so often making sure no one is there, and I will keep everyone posted on the status of the line, etc

Lancao, any update on whether or not NorthPark security will let us stay overnight inside the mall? How is the line looking?

Leaving for north park in about an hour, just got my pre-order iPhone in the mail, these phones are gorgeous! Gonna be totally worth the wait tonight! Sure would be nice if they let us stay inside all night, anybody know if there will be wifi available?

Hey guys, I just called the Apple Store at NorthPark, and the lady that answered gave me some key information.

1. Mall Security will NOT let anyone camp inside the mall overnight. They WILL kick you out.

2. There is only 1 entrance that opens at 5AM, and it is not the one on the map at the beginning of this post. I have attached an updated map.

3. They will open the doors next to Maggiano's Little Italy, and keep order to the Apple store, so the order you get in outside the mall is the order you will get your iPhone 4.

4. The lady I spoke with said she did tell some people to go to the nearest entrance at the Apple store, but that entrance WILL NOT be unlocked until normal business hours.

***IMPORTANT INFO***

I called NorthPark Security to confirm about what doors will be unlocked/locked, and they did confirm that the doors on the NWY sid next to Maggiano's will be the ONLY doors unlocked at 5AM. Furthermore, I asked about their camping rules, and she said that there will be ABSOLUTELY no camping anywhere on NorthPark property including sitting in your car in the parking lot. They have told their security officers to tell people to leave the property if they see anyone loitering in their cars near any entrances not just the Maggiano one.

Maybe sit in the Lincoln One parking lot????

It seems like it will be a mad dash to the Apple Store to create the line up. Thankfully I have a reservation...

Check attached map for updated location.

Thanks.

I as well just spoke with mall security and was told that the doors beside Maggiano's and Chico's would be opening at 5:00 a.m. This is my first wait in line launch day, does anyone have any suggestions or pointers for me? I have reserved my phone and called yesterday to make sure I was on the list and I am. Maybe I should bring some Starbucks for the people waiting in line with me!!

I also have a reservation, so what does that mean? Will I be in a shorter line? This will be my first time picking up an iPhone on launch date, normally I wait till the excitement dies down to purchase one.

I'm at northpark just spoke with security and they said doers by both entrances open at 5 am. Wouldn't it be closer to wait by the chicos entrance? Also I have not seen anyone waiting in line, maybe because they are not allowed too?

Yea I was at the mall, but they said no one can stay on mall property, so now I'm kinda curious as what everyone is going to do. I have a phone reserved but i live an hour and a half away so i would rather wait it out! Anywhere we can camp???

Take this for what it is a "rumor" but people at knox were saying the Northpark store is supposed to have the most "extra"

If you have a reservation you really have no need to camp. The stores are allocated inventory based on reservations and pre-orders. Those orders will be filled first before walk-ins are released and most likely that will be the 25th for walk-ins assuming they still have inventory. Only reason you would need to be there early is if have someone to be like work. Otherwise you can go whenever if you don't mind standing in line and have a day to kill.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of those who took the time to make reservations or even having reservations?

Yes I know the manager of the Knox store and the outside sales rep who supplies are 40 million dollar company with all are Apple products. They told us the Northpark store and most major mall stores will be getting inventory between 2500-3000 because the malls have docks to store back stock on trucks. Reservations and Pre-order will be filled first. You people are wasting your time camping if you don't have reservations or pre-order because the only thing that is going to keep you from getting one on the 24th is time, because their won't be enough time in the day.

We talked to a manager, Heather, at Knox store and she said the stores will service walk ins as they come.. She said Knox store was going to have 'limited extra' but was not sure how many. I also had exchanged emails with Ron Johnson, President of Retial Stores for Apple, who also said that the stores would have extras and that we would just have to wait in line the day they come out.

as far as "taking the time to reserve" we tried and tried to reserve they day reservations started but as we all know there were major issues with the websites. So we were unable to "reserve."

Of course people that reserved are going to be taken care of. We camped out when the Ipad came out at Knox, we were actually 3rd in line 2nd with reservations. When the store opened they took the first 8 people that reserved and then 2 that did not reserve and let us into the store.

The way the process was explained to us at knox that the line would be seperated into reserved and non reserved at all stores. While supplies lasted the non reserved were going to get iphones. If what you are saying is true there are going to be 100+ people, non reserved,, in line at Knox that are going to be Very Pissed off. In fact when we left at 9:30pm last night there were only 4 people in line for "reserved." People that "reserved" probably will not be camping out because they can walk in anytime to pick up there iphone.

well like i stated before, i can tell you for a fact theres 900 reservations so theres at least 900.

One thing I do know is Apple seems to be completly caught of guard everytime they release a new iphone.. I would think they would have some sort of system in place by now. Maybe specify that walkins come the next day or something.. I made the "speculation" comment in regards to the fact that someone posted the store will have 3000 iin stock/ With all the people waiting at knox I would think Knox would find a way to stock that many iphones.

I do understand the concept that there are 900 reservations and if all 900 people show up that will take a lot of time out of the day to serve them. The way the process was explained to us is that walk ins would be able to get iphones and i am hoping that is true :)

As in non-iPhone customers. Remember this is still a business that sells other products so those people will need to be serviced on their needs as well. That is what they are not telling you.

I also had exchanged emails with Ron Johnson, President of Retial Stores for Apple, who also said that the stores would have extras and that we would just have to wait in line the day they come out.

Yea wait in line until about 6 PM or until they can gauge the reservations. Pre-orders are already paid and will not be sold so they are not a factor. Only thing that is going to keep you from getting a phone is time, because there is not enough hrs in the day.

as far as "taking the time to reserve" we tried and tried to reserve they day reservations started but as we all know there were major issues with the websites. So we were unable to "reserve."

Major issues with Pre-Orders, not reservations. Their is a huge difference. There was a separate link to make reservations.

Of course people that reserved are going to be taken care of.

Yep, which means walk-ins wanting the iPhone will have to wait until they know if reservations are going to be met or not. Good things is they are not going to hold reservations all day if they have people lined up there ready to buy now. Still reservations take priority.

Well duh, that is the chance they are taking. That is why there are camping out.

EXACTLY!!! Which goes back to those who don't have reservations are camping out and taking the chance.

One thing I do know is Apple seems to be completly caught of guard everytime they release a new iphone.. I would think they would have some sort of system in place by now.

And they do, this is all just a Marketing ploy which Apple does every time they launch a new product. Have you seen Apples stock lately? That is why they do this like they do.

Maybe specify that walkins come the next day or something..

Nah, they would never do that and turn away business. This just adds to the hype and drives the market shares. Trust me I know, I took a $10K hit a couple of weeks ago from Apple. Not worried because this launch they will milk it and rebound the the market will split.

I made the "speculation" comment in regards to the fact that someone posted the store will have 3000 iin stock/ With all the people waiting at knox I would think Knox would find a way to stock that many iphones.

That was me that said that. Reason Northpark will have more is they have a dock. Knox can't carry as much stock for that reason.

I do understand the concept that there are 900 reservations and if all 900 people show up that will take a lot of time out of the day to serve them. The way the process was explained to us is that walk ins would be able to get iphones and i am hoping that is true :)

I am sure you will as long as you have time and a day to waste. Keep in mind I am sure not all 900 reservations are going to show up. If you think about it if 200-300 people in line and only half of them is reservations that still leaves 750 reservations not there. I have seen this with many yrs from Apple since the start of the iPod boom. Reservations are taking so they know how much stock they need to allocate to the different stores across the nation based on what they can hold. Which is why Mall locations are better because they have docks to hold back stock. It's all in the pudding young Hans Solo.

I have already been through this process once with the iPad as I said. By the time the store opened they were letting in a 5-1 ratio of reserved vs non reserved. Pre-Order/Reservation which ever you want to talk about there were issues all around. I know because I tried every option.. Apple also has just about every employee working. You think there are going to be the normal 6-8 employees that would open a store on a "normal day?" no, they are going to have 15-20, if not more, like they did when the ipad came out. Also reservations are only held for a "certain time." Also in the small print the reservations/ pre orders were not guarenteed.

Obviously they will serve "regular" customers but how many "regular" customers do you think will be there when they know the iphone is being released. On top of that they are opening at 7am which the last time I checked is a couple hours early..

This whole process has been a cluster f--k on Apple and AT&Ts part. People trying to reserve/pre order on AT&T site were punching in thier account information and other customers account information would come up. Just like the whole issue with the iPad 3G email addys being hacked. people were placing orders that they "thought' went through and they later found out they did not go through.

Fedex did not "hold" shipments as promised and people were getting the iphones a day early, on and on and on. They whole process was and is a nightmare. The people camping out are not "taking a chance" they will get iphones while supplies last guarenteed, This came From Ron Johnson, Again the President of Retail Stores.

Either way I do not want to argue.. You said yourself you are not even an iphone user. How many camp outs or launches have you been too? Hey maybe you are right but when I hear the complete opposite from a store manager and the president of Retail Stores I would tend to believe the people that work for apple. Reservations and pre orders were cut off because of all the issues that were going on.. There was obviously a lot of people that were left out because of this.

iPad and iPhone are two different beasts. iPad is new, not many knew what it is or capable of doing. iPhone on the other hand has been out how long now 3 yrs or so? Did they sell out the iPad that day? I believe all stock was met and then some.

Apple also has just about every employee working. You think there are going to be the normal 6-8 employees that would open a store on a "normal day?" no, they are going to have 15-20, if not more, like they did when the ipad came out.

Well yea, that is pretty much the 15-20 people is pretty much the "Normal" staff on any given day. Go into a Apple store lately?

Also reservations are only held for a "certain time." Also in the small print the reservations/ pre orders were not guarenteed.

Yep, I already stated that they are for a certain time if you read back. But that "certain time" isn't defined is it? The small print about reservations are not guaranteed is because some don't realize there is a release date. Sounds stupid, but trust me it happens.

Obviously they will serve "regular" customers but how many "regular" customers do you think will be there when they know the iphone is being released. On top of that they are opening at 7am which the last time I checked is a couple hours early..

You would be surprised at how many people who will be in there that are not there for an iPhone. Yes, most of the time launches they open early, that is not news. Time is the only enemy remember that.

Fedex did not "hold" shipments as promised and people were getting the iphones a day early, on and on and on.

Yes I know, we got ours Tuesday.

The people camping out are not "taking a chance" they will get iphones while supplies last guarenteed, This came From Ron Johnson, Again the President of Retail Stores.

Think about that last statement you just said. "while supplies last", so you those who are camping out aren't taking a chance if "supplies last don't last"? Do you think the president of retail stores and going to tell you everything and has nothing better to do then answer emails from customers all day?

You said yourself you are not even an iphone user.

When did I say that? I have had an iPhone since the first ones came out, and then the 3G and then the 3GS and now the 4.

How many camp outs or launches have you been too?

Many, when did the iPods come out? Then the iPod and so on. Really hasn't been many. Most of the biggest hype as been over the iPad and iPhone since the iPod came out years ago....

Hey maybe you are right but when I hear the complete opposite from a store manager and the president of Retail Stores I would tend to believe the people that work for apple.

Yep the same manager at Knox that supplies our $40 mil a year company? You don't think they are not going to take care of their big spenders and give them inside info? What do you think runs American Airlines Center and Cowboys Stadium? Hmmmmm...
