When will the new 2010 iMac be released?

Im wanting to buy an iMac but thinking apple will release a new 1 soon. should i wait what are the likely updates?

*new i7 processor?
*updated graphics card?
*updated os?
*Magic Trackpad?

is it worth waiting and when do you expect the new imac to come out?

The case just changed, so that isn't likely to change.

The low end machine likely will be the Nvidia 320M mobile chipset from the MacBook with a 3GHz CPU.

The i5/i7 likely will stay with a GPU tweak.

The other machines with the Core2Duo will likely go from the 9400m chipset to the Intel P55 chipset like the current i5 machine has.

Apple can surprise everyone and go i5/i7 quad core over the entire range ... since it won't be too big a surprise since Apple tends to limit options to a couple CPUs other than speed.

Some think Apple is heading toward the dual core i5 in the 21.5 machine.

For the GPU, I'm sure somebody will chime in quick on the next likely ATI mobility card.

According to the buyer's guide it should be refreshed in a couple months or so. But you can never know for certain when Apple will refresh it. It could be a few weeks, it could be a few months.

I'm looking forward to a stock i7 27" (not BTO), Radeon 5750 HD, and maybe some other perks.

I really hope they do an update soon. I actually just bought a 27inch as an impulse buy, but when I got home I saw the yellow tinge on the corner. I took it back to best Buy, but they did not have any more. I decided just to get my money back and wait for the refresh.

I think it will be soon, and I don't think it will be a touchscreen like some rumors are saying. Instead, I expect them to replace the magic mouse with the magic trackpad that got leaked.

I'm also hoping for a spec jump. I'd like core i5 to be standard, and 8gb standard would also be nice

3 years ago the first Aluminum iMac was launched in early August. Can't remember if it was part of the BTS sale. September is the usual time for new iMacs and iPods.

We will see a mac release on July 13th and August 17th...one of those is sure to be the updated iMac...for which I have cash set asside. I want the new i7 27" imac ASAP!

I am holding off to buy a new iMac (I will buy the 27" one) when the new Core i7 6-core processors are released. By then, they will finally rival the 8-core Mac Pro in raw speed and it will truly be a great deal. Geekbench on the i7 2.8GHz is getting about 9957 while the 8-core 2.92GHz if getting upwards of 18000! With 6-cores and a 12MB cache, the new 3.2GHz i7 processor should raise that level to about 14000 which will make it very attractive as a pro-level machine even.

I think you're getting too worked up over numbers. No way apple would put an 800 dollar, 130 watt cpu in an all-in-one machine that's meant to be consumer grade.

The lynnfields already demonstrate tremendous power, so it's not like a 6 core bloomfield would be a good means of getting a new iMac. What would be more exciting would be ssd/high end gpu.

My guess is you'd be waiting around until christmas of 2011 for 6core cpus in the iMacs-- sandybridge.

From what I've seen it probably won't be cheap either.

I don't know about you, but I'm willing to spend the extra money to get a top-flight CPU in a 27" iMac.

I currently have a 24" from 2007 (Alu 2.8) and I'm very happy with this machine. That said, it's getting long in the tooth when it comes to processing huge files, something I am doing at work more and more. Since future iterations of Mac OS X and future versions of software (including games like Civ V and Diablo III) will make better use of high-end GPUs and multi-core CPUs, I'm willing to spend the extra money on a "consumer-level" machine.

I don't think I'm the only one.
