The icon for Starwalk shows a red circle in the upper corner with the number 6 in it on my iPad. It looks like the same type of thing as appears in the app store when you have updates or in mail when you have unread messages. Anyone have any idea what it means?

This indicates 'picture of the day' you haven't yet viewed I believe. Check your push settings & you'll see Starwalk has settings for push items.
