You know, there was someone, I don't remember who, that had someone sign thier iPod. I wonder if we have a potential Apple saw some good idea *here* and took it thing going on?

No, apple has done the celebrity signing thing before. A while back, they offered a few special edition ipods with artists signatures engraved on the back. I think one of the artists was madonna. I'm sure there is a thread on it somewhere, but i don't care enough to search for it.
