I am considering buying an airport express, but first want to know if I can use it on top of another network.

I want to use when I visit my family for the holidays this year. My hesitation is that I am not sure AE will work on top of their existing setup. Actually, I don't know what technology they are using. I do know they have (relatively new) windows desktop & laptop computers running off the same high speed connection. I think they have some type of hardwired network router.

Also, will I be able to turn my office at work into my own wireless room (by plugging the ethernet cable they give me - which is just connected to the work network - into the AE?)

Does it matter? Can I plug an ethernet connection from any source into the AE, and set up my own wireless on top of any other network?
