I have some stuff that comes up when I log in (Stuffit magic menu, hp communications in the dock etc.) I'd like to know how to remove startup items, is there an app that will do this for you or will I have to go through my /Library?

system prefs-accounts, then you would see a tab for startup items.

I know about that, but not everything shows up there. Also, I'm running 10.3.5.

well the system startup items are in
/system/library/StartupItems
So probably you can check in there.

I'm having this problem too on 10.3.5. Ever since I installed Airport Express - which works fine - each time I log on the Airport Express Assistant pops up - so I have to quit it each time. I have checked both startupitems folders but they only have Norton Antivirus in them? Any other ideas?

try going into the preferences in the apps, or system preferences in the individual panes and see if there's a check box or something.
